This painting is from my Wildlife Art of Ancient Egypt collection. Hedgehogs
were kept for many purposes in Ancient Egypt. They were eaten, given
in tribute and seen as symbolic protection in the afterlife. Hedgehogs
were often carried in cages on boats, because they could sense when
a storm was coming, so acted as living barometers. They became symbolic
of guidance and safe passage through the cataracts, the areas of rapids
within the course of the Nile. I wish you safe passage through any cataracts
in your own journey. Why
choose a greetings card based on an original painting? - Quirky and fun - Perfect for the historians in your family - Ideal Bon Voyage card |
