Peregrine falcons are supreme in every way: sleek, aerodynamic, efficient and thoroughly inspiring. Usually studies are done as preliminary work so the artist can explore the subject before undertaking a larger and more complex painting. In this case though, I confess I did the painting purely so I could revel in the peregrine’s perfection. When admiration is your overwhelming reaction, the right response is just to stand and stare.
