This painting of a pair of rockhopper penguins is one of the resulting
images from my time painting penguins in the Falkland Islands. I called
it "Putting on the Ritz" because so many people have remarked that the
penguins look like they're dancing. The slap of their feet on the wet
sand reminded me of the sound of tap-dancing, and their black and white
plumage has a hint of top hat and tails. So, a light-hearted reminder
that evokes some very happy memories of watching penguins returning
to their rookery from the sea.
