This painting of redshanks is another inspiration from Wader Shore at WWT Slimbridge. Wader Shore is a netted aviary that's home to Black-winged Stilts, Avocets and Redshanks. I just liked the colour combination and the Redshanks looked quite perky, as though they were setting off to do something. The brushwork's quite loose because I wanted to keep the overall effect fresh and spontaneous. Read
